Simple, Rewarding And Fun
Speak For Yourself is a hands-on, self help club, for anyone who wants (or needs) to speak to groups of people. You can learn new skills, practise the techniques and build your confidence in virtually all aspects of public speaking and related communication skills.
It is ideal whether you are a nervous, inexperienced beginner or somebody wishing to expand and maintain the basic skills learned on a short training course. You do not need to have been on a course before you join, all levels of experience are accommodated and welcomed.
What Happens At The Meetings?
Our regular meetings (normally fortnightly) are designed to help you with on-going self development in a friendly and supportive environment.
We take part in a variety of activities and exercises. These are normally chosen by the member whose turn it is to chair the meeting.
A typical meeting can cover activities such as:
- 5 minute prepared talks
- Short impromptu talks
- Discussions and debates
- Use of visual aids
- Many more...
We can also include activities to help an individual member's needs or the particular interests of the group at the time.
One of the most important parts of any meeting is when members give feedback to each other. We try to keep this positive and constructive to encourage improvement in our skills and growth of confidence.
Overall, the meetings are relaxed, friendly, constructive and a bit of fun too!
